Shopping and Dining
Whether you want to sit down to a relaxing meal with an elegant atmosphere or need to grab a bite on the run, you’ll find the dining options in Fresno to be plentiful and varied.
There are more than 100 places to eat in Fresno, many offering authentic tastes from around the world (including French, Mexican, Armenian, Thai, Japanese and Basque specialties), along with plenty of restaurants serving up American favorites.
Many restaurants with unique menus can be found in the Tower District and the River Park area. Numerous restaurants are also spread out across town.
Fresno also provides an array of shopping opportunities — from plazas, strip malls, freestanding businesses, outdoor shopping centers and enclosed malls.
Some of the larger malls and shopping centers include the Fashion Fair Mall, Fig Garden Village, the Galleria, Gallery Plaza, Manchester Center, North Pointe Center, Pavilion West, River Park Place, Sierra Vista Mall and the Tower District. One of the more notable shopping areas is the Fulton Street Mall. A section of downtown Fresno that was revitalized as a pedestrian mall, Fulton Street Mall is the first of its kind in the country. Many of the buildings along this avenue are representative examples of architectural styles that illustrate a variety of time periods.
One of the driving forces behind these thriving businesses is the dedication of the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce and its professional staff to promoting business and enhancing the economic and cultural well-being of the people of Fresno County. For more than 110 years, the Chamber has been providing educational programs and information to business owners, exposing the public to the area businesses’ products and services and offering a supportive atmosphere for networking and problem solving.
