Healthcare: Compassion & Caring

Fresno area residents are surrounded by numerous hospitals, doctors and health maintenance workers who continually provide exceptional service, no matter what the need of the patient may be.

Built to cater exclusively to the area’s children, Valley Children’s Hospital, located at the northern border of Fresno, is a 242-bed facility that serves sick and hurting children in a 10-county, 60,000 square mile vicinity. Established in 1952 in the downtown area of Fresno, a need for more space proved to be all that was needed for VCH to move to its present location in 1998, overlooking the San Joaquin River and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. With the children in mind, architects and interior designers built a hospital that looks less like a hospital, and more like an amusement park. Bright and playful color schemes dominate throughout the hospital, with each room set up to remind the patient of his or her own room at home. For those children requiring an extended stay, classrooms, play areas, visitors rooms, and video rooms allow for a more comfortable stay during an often stressful time in their young lives. Making VCH one of the premier medical facilities in the nation is its staff of doctors and nurses. Considered by many to be among the best in the world, the medical staff at VCH strives to make each child feel like they are receiving the best possible care available, while minimizing concerns of worried parents and families. Valley Children’s physicians practice in over 36 sub-specialties covering nearly all aspects of advanced pediatric care. The hospital features Level III Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, as well as the only Pediatric Trauma Receiving Center between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The mission of Valley Children’s Hospital is to provide high-quality, comprehensive healthcare services to the children of Central California, regardless of their ability to pay.

Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser Permanente is a 122-bed facility in Fresno’s northern edge. It specializes in pre-paid, group practice health maintenance for members who receive high-quality, affordable care with an emphasis on the prevention of disease. A state-of-the-art facility, Kaiser is able to handle any medical situation, from non-emergency to life-threatening matters. A new birthing center allows for patients to go through childbirth in a natural, homestyle setting.
