Recreation

A variety of parks, playgrounds and recreation areas for water sports, fishing, camping, butterfly watching and biking are available. Some of the most enjoyable places for outdoor activities are Sperling Preserve at Ellwood Mesa, Stow Grove Park, Lake Los Carneros and Girsh Park. There are also several fitness facilities and a bowling center.

The Goleta area is blessed with beautiful beaches. The coastline faces south rather than west, so visitors may feel that the laws of physics have changed just for sunset. Rest assured this isn’t the case.

Goleta Beach is a favorite for those who enjoy plenty of activity. The sandy beach is bordered with grass and there are grills and picnic tables nearby. Other amenities include restrooms, showers, lifeguards, restaurants/snacks, a fishing pier, a children’s playground, a 29-acre paved trail systems for biking, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, bird watching, tidal pools and a boat launch. Extra pluses are free parking, dog-friendly areas and close proximity to the university and airport.

Goleta boasts several beautiful golf courses for those who love to spend their time on the links. Call the Chamber at 805-967-2500 or visit our Web site at www.GoletaValleyChamber.com for more information.
