All levels of education, both public and private, are discovered right within Hayward—making it the sole community in the East Bay to be afforded access to such exceptional opportunities centralized in one City.
Serving more than 24,000 students in grades kindergarten through 12th, Hayward Unified School District is a staple for primary and secondary educational opportunities in the community. The district is comprised of 25 elementary schools, five middle schools and three high schools, plus the Brenkwitz Alternative High School, English Language Center, Adult Education Center and Child Care Center serving preschool children.
While the majority of students attend Hayward Unified School District, a small portion of students are located within the New Haven Unified School District. Hillview Crest and El Rancho Verde Elementary Schools are located in the Fairway Park neighborhood of Hayward, while the middle school and high school can be found in neighboring Union City.
An alternative to public education is readily available through the City’s Moreau Catholic High School, a Holy Cross coeducational college-preparatory high school rooted in Christian values. In addition to the regular curriculum at Moreau are 13 Honors and 15 AP courses, an extensive Visual and Performing Arts Program and 40 athletic teams in 15 sports. Of note, more than 99 percent of graduating students of Moreau enroll directly into higher learning programs.
