Hayward’s diversity is not only reflected in our residents, but also in the variety of outstanding businesses that have chosen to locate and maintain their enterprises in our community. Our city is a diverse center of retail, industry and government, and has a strong economic base that continues to grow. We continue to actively seek new businesses that bring jobs and value to our community, and to work diligently to retain those businesses that have selected Hayward as their home.
In good times and in bad, particularly during the recent economic challenges facing our nation, state and city, the health and stability of our community depends in great part on the success of the large and small businesses that comprise the economic engine in Hayward. This engine provides jobs and local government revenues that generate investment so necessary to enhancing our community’s quality of life.
It pleases me, as it does each year, to take this opportunity to applaud the fine men and women who own and work in Hayward businesses. Your investment in our community is appreciated and valued. Continued partnership between business, residents, education and government are essential to ensure Hayward’s ongoing success as the “Heart of the Bay” and to our growing reputation as being “Hayward Open for Business.”
Sincerely,
Michael Sweeney
Mayor of Hayward
