Visitors to the community can choose from the 1,416 hotel rooms at the four major hotels: The Renaissance Esmeralda Resort, Hyatt Grand Champions Resorts, Spa & Villas, the Miramonte Resort and the Indian Wells Resort Hotel.

All offer scenic mountain views and provide a range of leisure and corporate amenities. Also available are 40 outdoor meeting venues; golf and tennis, swimming pools and spa services.

Indian Wells also boasts a number of attractions and events that appeal to all ages.

For example, one of the biggest draws in Indian Wells is the Pacific Life Open (scheduled for March 10-23 in 2008), a Tennis Masters Series event held at the 80-acre, 16,000-seat Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Acknowledged as one of the more acclaimed tournaments on the ATP and WTA Tours, the Pacific Life Open has grown into the fifth most-attended tennis tournament in the world, attracting 270,000 people in 2006. The tournament has drawn the world’s top tennis players, including Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl, Boris Becker, Andre Agassi, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, all competing for more than $5 million in prize money.

Another major attraction in Indian Wells is the Eisenhower Walk of Honor and Veterans Memorial, located on the south side of City Hall at Highway 111 and Eldorado Lane. The 5,000-square foot memorial salutes the former president and military man with its plush gardens, scenic walkways and an eternal wellspring that reflects the devotion of all who served in the military. A bronze bust remembers Eisenhower’s accomplishments and two seven-foot granite walls commemorate the 500 Indian Wells citizens who served in the armed forces.

For the younger set, there is the Children’s Discovery Museum, a hands-on, interactive museum for children, funded partially by the City of Indian Wells. The museum features more than 50 exhibits.

There are also a number of major attractions located just outside of Indian Wells.

The 1,200-acre Living Desert Zoo & Gardens, for example, is a world-class, award-winning site offering scenic landscapes, nature trails and exhibits. Nestled at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains, The Living Desert is home to rare desert animals including meerkats, coyotes, Bighorn sheep and endangered African cheetahs. Ten different desert ecosystems are found in the attraction’s botanical gardens.

Other nearby tourist draws are the Shields Date Gardens, which for 75 years has offered assorted dates, treats and shakes; the Big League Dreams Sports Park, which replicates Chicago’s Wrigley Field, New York’s Yankee Stadium, and Boston’s Fenway park and also offers inline hockey, sand volleyball, basketball, indoor/outdoor soccer, flag football fields and batting cages; and Boomers, a family fun center offering three 18-hole miniature golf courses, go carts, bumper boats, a rock climbing wall and an arcade.
