Letter from the Mayor

Indio is the oldest and largest city in the Coachella Valley, with a rich history. In 1930, Indio was incorporated as a city. It had a population of 1,875. Today, thanks to phenomenal growth in new home construction, more than 83,000 people call Indio “home.”

Over the years, Indio has achieved international recognition for its multicultural festivals, which attract thousands of visitors to the area annually. In addition, our city continues phenomenal business growth as a result of our bulging population.

Indio is “business-friendly,” providing strong municipal services and support to help your business grow. We urge new business prospects to come on board and enjoy the advantages of doing business in Indio. Our goal is to help locally based businesses to be successful. Some of the Indio advantages include lower business costs and a higher quality of life, low-cost utilities, quality public services, State Enterprise Zone tax benefits, business-friendly government and location, location, location.
