

John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2006, is Indio’s community hospital. It contains 145 beds, delivers more than 3,500 babies a year, treats 42,000 patients in its emergency room and performs over 5,000 surgeries annually.
Addressing the needs of the population is of high priority for the hospital. The number of Valley residents with arthritis is prevalent, as one in three people suffer from some form of arthritic condition. For this reason, JFK opened its Arthritis Institute five years ago, which provides a wide range of services to treat those conditions.
A stroke program was enhanced in 2006 at JFK, along with the opening of a new outpatient rehabilitation center offering a full range of programs for patients of all ages, including occupational, physical, speech and stroke therapy.
HealthGrades, the nation’s leading healthcare rating company, has issued that JFK clinical performances for the services of joint replacement surgery, total knee replacements and stroke treatment are in the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation. Indio Senior Center The Indio Senior Center is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for a culturally diverse aging population. The center provides needed services and programs that allow seniors to maintain independence. It is a resource for outreach, information, fun, growth and communication. Activities range from health screenings to bridge, to Meals on Wheels, to social outreach.
