This annual event provides buses from the Civic Center to Pasadena with reserved grandstand seating to view the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day. Over 300 people from the Lakewood area enjoy this event. Tickets go on sale at the Lakewood Chamber office each August.
Arbor Week is celebrated in March at the city's major parks, with poster contests and a special presentation by "Woody," the talking tree. An estimated 3,000 students from kindergarten through third grade enjoy the Annual Arbor Day program each year.

Business and health expos
The Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce hosts a spring and fall Business Expo and a summer Health Fairin the Lakewood Center. This gives the businesses an excellent opportunity to expose their products and services to the community.
Lakewood sponsors annual events to which community members are invited. Among them are the Lakewood Award of Valor (honoring the bravery of public safety personnel), Lakewood Celebrates (recognizing residents for their involvement in the community), Lakewood Beautiful (an awards program honoring the city's most beautiful homes), and Patriot Day (in remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001).
Lakewood offers many opportunities to reduce, reuse, and recycle just about anything. Greenwaste collection events are held frequently during the spring and summer months. Several household hazardous waste roundups are held in the Lakewood area each year. The city also sponsors e-waste collection of television monitors and computer equipment.
Lakewood Youth Sports Hall of Fame
The Lakewood Youth Sports Hall of Fame is an annual sports award program honoring youth living in Lakewood or attending school here. Awards are presented for Athlete of the Year and Performer of the Year in many sports. Special Achievement awards in sports are also awarded. The annual awards banquet, held at the Centre at Sycamore Plaza, is traditionally scheduled in February.
Pan American Fiesta
Each year, during the month of May, the Pan American Festival Association and the city co-sponsor the Pan American Fiesta. The fiesta is a three-day community fair at Mayfair Park. It features carnival games, amusement rides, a children's cultural booth, fiesta food booths, and community booths. The fiesta also includes entertainment ranging from country western bands to folklorico groups. The fiesta attracts approximately 20,000 participants over the three days of festivities.
Project Shepherd, a combined effort of the city and the Lakewood Rotary Club, makes the December holidays more comfortable for those who are on public assistance or unemployed. Qualifying families receive a large box of food and a gift for each child in the family. Emergency assistance to Lakewood residents is available on a year-round basis. Donations to Project Shepherd are tax deductible.
Summer Stampede Car Show
This annual event is held the last Sunday in June at Mayfair Park. The car show attracts upwards of 300 classic cars, 60 exhibitors, and approximately 15,000 attendees. This family event features 50's music and is free to the public.
Summer Concerts in the Park
Free weekly concerts every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. are scheduled at Del Valle Park from mid-July through mid-August. The entire family is welcomed to enjoy swing, country western, and 50's and 60's music while they have a picnic dinner.
The city offers camp programs during the summer with special events and exciting excursions each week. More camp programs are offered during winter and spring school breaks.
Halloween carnivals offer fun and safety for youngsters 6 to 13 years of age on October 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. All carnivals feature food and game booths, contests, and prizes for youngsters. Some parks have a super-scary haunted house for little ghosts and goblins to venture inside. Over 10,000 children and adults participate in the fun each year.
