La Mirada Location and Transportation

Getting around town or commuting to work has never been easier in La Mirada. It is conveniently located for commuters working in adjacent cities, shoppers exploring the region’s retail venues and travelers from all over. Major U.S. and State highways form the backbone of an extensive network of 116.16 miles of well-maintained highways and paved roads.

La Mirada Transit has been providing Dial-A-Ride transportation services in the community since 1973 and was one of the first “Dial-A-Ride” systems in the western United States. La Mirada Transit provides residents with curb-to-curb service within the city limits and convenient connections to other transit systems. To keep fares low, rides are shared with other passengers. Transfer slips to MTA, OCTA, and Whittier Transit are available from the driver.

LMT offers three types of service. The convenient, door-to-door service helps to meet the community’s transportation needs for employment, shopping, recreation and medical purposes.

The thriving community has an area of 7.8-square miles and is attracting new residents annually due to the very agreeable climate, where relative humidity is low and rainfall infrequent. The atmosphere is clean, fresh and creates a desirable environment.

For air travelers, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in Los Angeles is one of the nation’s busiest and less than an hour’s drive away. Passengers can make daily connections to thousands of destinations worldwide on any of the dozens of national and international carriers.
