A Message From the La Quinta Mayor

water

The city of La Quinta extends its warmest welcome. The “Gem of the Desert” continues to shine brightly! The city has seen tremendous growth and progress over the past 26 years, and has become one of the premier cities in the Coachella Valley.

La Quinta provides a business-friendly environment, and supports local business through a strong, proactive marketing program. The goal is to attract Valley residents, as well as tourists from both near and far, to enjoy all that La Quinta has to offer. We offer a wide array of retailers, restaurants, services, recreation, and high-quality hotels – everything you need is in our city!

Another benefit to local business is the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic – three of La Quinta’s golf courses host the Classic. And this year, we’re especially proud that the Arnold Palmer Classic Course at SilverRock Resort was added to the rotation. Approximately 18,000 people attended the tournament at SilverRock – a major boost for our local economy!

2008 will be an exciting year for La Quinta. We’ve recently enlarged our library; the La Quinta Museum is undergoing an expansion; we’re putting the finishing touches on our new Emergency Operations Center; our innovative and environmentally-friendly workforce housing project, Vista Dunes Courtyard Homes, will be completed this spring; and new businesses and restaurants continue to open. Soon you’ll see JCPenney, Mimi’s Café, Souplantation, Fresh n’ Easy Market, and more. And, La Quinta is “going green” – the city is working with Imperial Irrigation District and the Coachella Valley Water District on programs and policies to assist residents and businesses in their efforts to conserve natural resources. Updates and information on green efforts will be published in the city’s newsletter, in The Gem, and on our website. With so many great things happening, La Quinta is truly the place to be!

On behalf of the city of La Quinta, I extend my sincere appreciation to our residents, business partners, visitors, and all those who contribute to La Quinta’s success. I encourage you to explore all that La Quinta has to offer. To learn more about the city and SilverRock Resort, please call us at City Hall at (760) 777-7000 or log onto www.la-quinta.org or www.SilverRock.org.

Best Regards,
