La Quinta Location and Transportation

The City of La Quinta is located 127 miles east of Los Angeles and 516 miles south of San Francisco. The climate is fantastic and transportation options are plentiful. Whether traveling or shopping for business or pleasure, the “Gem of the Desert” has easy and convenient access to the world!

Transportation

Rail: Union Pacific main line. Amtrak passenger rail service is available in Indio and Palm Springs.

Truck: Nine carriers provide direct daily service in the Coachella Valley.

Air: Palm Springs International Airport is located 17 miles northwest and provides service by major commercial airlines. Facilities include a 10,000-foot runway. Bermuda Dunes Private Airport is located three miles north.

Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport is located five miles east of the city limits. Million Air La Quinta Air Services is the fixed base operator. The airport services agricultural shipping, small craft and corporate jets, with no commercial airlines operating at this time.

The Goodyear Blimp frequents the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport, usually for the purpose of televising special sporting events in the area. Other blimps also frequent the airport.

Bus: Sun Bus by SunLine Transit Agency.

Ports: Nearest ports are located at Los Angeles-Long Beach and San Diego.

Highways: California State Highway 111. There are also nearby connections to the I-10 west to Los Angeles and east to Phoenix, and California State Highway 86 (NAFTA Highway) to Imperial County and Mexico.
