La Quinta Business and Industry

SilverRock

La Quinta’s steady growth can be attributed to the incomparable mix of business and lifestyle the city offers its residents. La Quinta is committed to promoting a healthy balance of quality of life with a solid Economic Development Plan outlining a vision that complements its reputation as a resort destination, as well as servicing its growing population.

According to the Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy, La Quinta was California’s second fastest-growing city during the 1990s. This success can be partially attributed to the city’s focused economic development efforts. The city of La Quinta adopted its first Economic Development Plan (EDP) in June 1996. The City Council reviews the plan annually to ensure progress towards stated goals and to make adjustments which reflect changing market conditions. La Quinta’s EDP outlines policies, goals and objectives in support of citywide economic development activity. The EDP identifies several priority areas, including the Highway 111 Corridor, The Village, resort/hospitality, housing and recreation.

Named for the famous La Quinta Resort and Club, the city is a well-established tourist draw. Recent resort/hospitality development includes brand names such as the Embassy Suites and Marriott, and there are several other resort/hotel projects currently on the drawing board. Such companies are capitalizing on all that La Quinta can offer to tourists and visitors.

La Quinta has invested in major infrastructure improvements that include water features, decorative streetlights, benches, new roadway pavement and new sidewalks, all of which contribute to the small town setting for a variety of restaurants and businesses. The city of La Quinta’s first municipal golf course at SilverRock Resort offers 18 holes of golf in a spectacular setting at the base of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains. The course is open to the public. Development of the 525-acre parcel is ongoing, with future plans to include a boutique hotel, resort hotel, casitas and timeshare units, a resort retail village and a black box theater.
