Eisenhower Medical Center is a not-for-profit, comprehensive healthcare institution distinguished nationally in 2005 as a 100 Top Hospital by Solucient®, the market leader for benchmarks and trends in business healthcare. The Eisenhower George and Julia Argyros Health Center is expected to open in the fall of 2009 and will house the 7,000-square-foot Eisenhower Urgent Care Center, offering quality medical care for urgent but non-life threatening conditions. Community education and health programs will be specifically designed for the La Quinta community and will include separate men’s and women’s Wellness Centers and Eisenhower’s Center for Healthy Living classes and lectures.

The $40 million Eisenhower George and Julia Argyros Health Center seeks to address the need for increased healthcare services in one of the fastest growing cities in California. La Quinta has experienced a five-year growth rate of more than 52 percent from 2000 to 2005 (Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, 2006).

The Eisenhower George and Julia Argyros Health Center is designed to provide an additional 15 primary care physicians and 80 to 100 healthcare professionals in the first four years, and will provide services to a population of 80,000 to 100,000 people.

Physicians staffing the Eisenhower Urgent Care Center will have immediate access to Eisenhower Imaging Center. Utilizing 10,000 square feet of the first level of the new facility, Eisenhower Imaging Center will include two computed tomography (CT) scanners, two magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines, two ultrasound machines, X-ray, two mammography units, and a bone density scanner.

Radiation Oncology therapy services will also be offered, providing convenient access to treatment for both benign and malignant conditions. A linear accelerator will provide state-of-the-art treatment and space exists for a second linear accelerator to be added at a later date. The 5,000-square-foot space will also include a satellite of the Arnold Palmer Prostate Center.

JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio offers a comprehensive array of healthcare services for residents in the Eastern Coachella Valley and has served the community since 1966. Key services include a 24-hour emergency room and daily Express Care center, as well as a progressive 16-bed intensive care unit. JFK offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services, such as general, vascular, and orthopedic care – including joint replacement, sports medicine, and treatment in our Arthritis Institute. Also available are interventional cardiac, vascular, and radiology services; urology surgeries specializing in incontinence and erectile dysfunction; and a variety of diagnostic imaging services including MRI, CT scan, nuclear medicine and ultrasound. JFK delivers nearly 300 newborns each month and continues to grow along with the community it serves. A stroke program was introduced in 2006, along with the opening of a new outpatient rehabilitation center offering a full range of programs for patients of all ages, including occupational, physical, speech and stroke therapy.

New services planned in the hospital for 2008 include a neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU) and a dedicated interventional cardiac catheterization lab. Near the hospital campus will be a newly acquired joint venture ambulatory surgery center. JFK will also expand to La Quinta with a joint venture outpatient imaging center and a new orthopedics joint replacement and sports medicine institute. The hospital is also actively recruiting primary care physicians for La Quinta and North Indio to meet the needs of our growing population.

JFK Memorial Hospital is rated top 10% in the nation for the third year by Health Grades, the nation’s largest hospital ratings company, in the specialty of orthopedics, specifically joint replacement, knee replacement and hip-fracture repair. Desert Regional Medical Center, located in Palm Springs, is a 367-bed acute care facility. The hospital’s Emergency/Trauma Services are the Coachella Valley’s only Level II designated trauma center. In addition to a full menu of routine hospital inpatient and outpatient services, the medical center offers a vast array of specialty services, including the Comprehensive Cancer Center; Women and Infant Center, including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Maternal Fetal Medicine Center for high-risk pregnancies; Bariatric Specialty program; Institute of Clinical Orthopedics and Neurosciences; the valley’s only acute inpatient rehabilitation unit; the Wellness Center; Health Key Plus senior program; and Healthy Beginnings maternity program.

Also, located in Rancho Mirage is Eisenhower Medical Center. Sharing the hospital campus are the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center and the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences. The well-known Betty Ford Center is the world’s leading addiction treatment hospital. The facility also offers a highly regarded family program, as well as a children’s program (ages 7 to 12) for youngsters who are not themselves addicted to drugs or alcohol, but who live in a family environment where the disease is present. Eisenhower strongly promotes the care given in their Cardiovascular, Orthopedics and Oncology Centers. There is an Eisenhower Immediate Care Center located in La Quinta.
