The Desert Sands Unified School District serves the residents of La Quinta. Headquartered in La Quinta, Desert Sands USD offers a variety of services to the public including K-12 education, special education, vocational education, and early childhood programs.
The diverse student population served by the school district demands an understanding of various socioeconomic and cultural concerns. Teachers and administrators understand this and work to serve all members of the student population. Staff development programs provide teachers with multiple opportunities for career advancement.
Private schools in the area include the Quadrille Academy, serving students in grades K-6; and the Christian School of the Desert, serving the needs of preschoolers through 12th graders. For those looking to continue their education beyond high school, the City of La Quinta as well as the surrounding area provides a multitude of possibilities.
The College of the Desert provides the needed services of an excellent community college with various Associate and Transfer Degree programs as well as a variety of Certificate programs. Four-year degree programs and continuing education are offered locally by the combined campus of California State University, San Bernardino and University of California, Riverside as well as Chapman College.
