CULTURAL ARTS

Through its Cultural Arts Commission, the city of La Quinta oversees the dramatic Art in Public Places program that displays several creative pieces of artwork throughout the greater community area.

LA QUINTA ARTS FESTIVAL

Held annually the third weekend in March, La Quinta Arts Festival remains the most widely recognized and embraced program offered by La Quinta Arts Foundation.

Consistently ranked among the top ten fine art festivals in the United States, and drawing over 20,000 discerning fine art patrons, the Festival is positioned at the forefront of Southern California attractions. Only the nation’s pre-eminent artists demonstrating mastery of their visual art mediums are selected from hundreds of applicants by a competitive jury process to exhibit in this exclusive show.

MAKING FRIENDS WITH GREAT WORKS OF ART

Each year thousands of 4th and 5th grade students in our local elementary schools are introduced to the great artists of history. The program imparts the concepts of aesthetics, art history, art criticism and art production through a series of seven lessons administered through volunteer docents trained by La Quinta Arts Foundation.

ART UNDER THE UMBRELLAS & ART ON THE PLAZA

Providing exhibition and sale opportunities for local and emerging artists, these weekend shows are held at outdoor locations with community partners like Old Town La Quinta and La Quinta Resort.

YOUTH ART WORKS

Under the supervision of professional artists and qualified youth leaders, students create public works of art in their neighborhoods. Past Youth Art Works projects included mural designs and permanent installations at Eisenhower Medical Center, La Quinta Senior Center, Van Buren Elementary School and the Bear Creek trail system and bicycle path. Students have also created artwork for local transit shelters.

La Quinta is also home to a talented group of local artists who formed the La Quinta Arts Association and the La Quinta Studio Gallery.

The La Quinta-based Coachella Valley Community Concert Association is yet another cultural option for residents. With over 750 members, the group is the oldest cultural organization in the desert.
