No land in La Quinta is zoned for heavy industrial/ manufacturing; however, the La Quinta General Plan designates approximately 55 acres as a commercial park. The commercial park allows heavy commercial/light industrial uses, such as office/showroom, warehousing and storage, research and development, light manufacturing and automotive-related uses.

Employment in the area continues to grow with the greatest growth occurring in the service, construction, retail and landscape management industries. La Quinta is expanding rapidly, and the growth will necessitate additional service, retail and product availability. The city has approved projects totaling over 21,000 dwelling units.
