The city is known for its outstanding customer service, innovation and design, having received a variety of prestigious awards in 2007 including two Grand Prize Awards for Excellence from the League of California Cities; two awards from the International City/County Management Association and the National Research Center recognizing the city’s high Citizen Survey ratings; and California Building Department and Building Official of the Year, marking the first time both awards have been presented to the same city. It is no wonder that Money magazine ranked Livermore on their list of Best Places to Live.

Livermore’s contemporary City Hall provides a comfortable space to do business. A single-stop and streamlined permit process allows customers to obtain permits, answers and approvals, simply.

The Livermore Municipal Airport, owned and operated by the city, plays a vital role in the community, providing economic benefits, community services and disaster relief to the Tri-Valley for more than 40 years. Livermore’s two municipal golf courses, Las Positas (18-hole, 6,800 yard and 9-hole executive), and Springtown (9-hole), are quality, challenging courses that are both convenient and affordable.

The standards are set very high in Livermore when it comes to public safety. The Livermore Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency with a range of services and educational programs that address community needs through partnerships to better understand issues and respond effectively. The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department is a consolidated emergency response agency serving the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton. Emergency preparedness, fire prevention and public education programs, such as Partners in Safety, provide the community with training to address emergencies and prevent fires.
