Greetings from the Mayor

Is one of the city’s business partners, the Livermore Chamber of Commerce provides our business community and visitors with resources, referrals, promotions and invaluable networking opportunities, encouraging success and longevity. The city is a proud member of the Livermore Chamber of Commerce and encourages others to join this valuable organization.

Livermore is a city of 83,604 residents. Located 43 miles east of San Francisco, Livermore is a great place to live! We are home to two world-renowned national laboratories, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories. Livermore’s heritage includes some of the oldest vineyards in California, and a tradition of cattle ranching. Today, our city continues to expand its wine-making industry and is home to 40 wineries and growing. There is a diverse art and cultural community in Livermore, as well as a strong western tradition that is celebrated annually with a rodeo and parade.

Livermore has a beautiful and revitalized downtown. Anchored by a 500-seat performing arts theater and a 13-screen cinema, there are also numerous gourmet restaurants, specialty shops, commercial offices and a public plaza. Plans are in the works for a boutique hotel for the downtown.

Las Positas College is expanding to meet the needs of the Valley. The College District and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have formed a number of training and education partnerships including an apprenticeship program in conjunction with the National Tooling and Machinery Association and a laser-tech program.

Livermore is an integral part of the Bay Area, successfully competing in the global market as a knowledge-based, resource-rich economy, powered by its wealth of research technology and innovation. Livermore’s arts, culture, western heritage and vibrant wine industry provide a unique blend to this special community.
