Greetings from the Mayor

As one of the City’s business partners, the Livermore Chamber of Commerce provides our business community and visitors with resources, referrals, promotions and invaluable networking opportunities, encouraging success and longevity. The City is a proud member of the Livermore Chamber of Commerce and encourages others to join this valuable organization.

As for Livermore’s 79,927 residents, they are here because it is the best place in the world to live. Located 43 miles east of San Francisco, Livermore’s western heritage includes cattle ranching and some of the oldest vineyards in California. Now, a bastion of science and technology (including two world-renowned national laboratories), an active and diverse art and cultural community, and home to nearly 40 wineries and growing, we have managed to preserve the quality of life and open space that originally attracted people here in the 19th century.

The City has exciting plans that center on a modern, revitalized downtown. Enlivened by retail space, green areas and mixed-use housing, this shopping and dining and entertainment district bustles with activity day and night. The new Livermore Valley Plaza, an exciting new development includes a 13-screen cinema, 500-seat performing arts theater, retail shops, commercial offices, public plaza and plans for a boutique hotel, transforming the downtown into a destination.

Livermore is an integral part of the Bay Area, successfully competing in global market as a knowledge-based, resource-rich economy, powered by its wealth of research technology and innovation. Livermore’s arts, culture, western heritage and vibrant wine industry provide a unique blend to this special community.
