What to do in Manteca

Manteca’s locality places it within an hour’s drive of many of this California region’s major attractions, including San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz; Silicon Valley; the Sierra Nevada Mountains; and much, much more.

What to Do

But that’s not to say Manteca doesn’t offer its own hometown entertainment. Delicato Vineyards is just a few miles north, while downtown Manteca is home to the Kelley Brothers Brewing Company—one of the largest microbreweries in the region. History buffs can take a glimpse back in local history at the Manteca Historical Society Museum, and shoppers revel in the abundant retail opportunities throughout town. Leading shopping centers include the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley and the Bass Pro Shop; Stadium Retail Center; Spreckels Park Retail Center; the pending Lowe’s Home Improvement Center; and new developments along the Highway 99 corridor, Highway 120 Bypass and other portions of town. Additionally, Manteca hosts a farmers market every Tuesday evening from June through August at Liberty Park in the downtown area.

Community cohesiveness is evident through Manteca’s calendar year full of exciting, annual events. Major community-wide gatherings include nearby Ripon’s Almond Blossom Festival (February), the Tule Frog Fete at Caswell State Memorial Park (February), the Crossroads of California Street Fair (April), the Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks, the Fourth of July Parade, the Manteca Pumpkin Fair (October), the Dell’Osso Farms Corn Maze (October), and the Manteca Chamber of Commerce Downtown Twilight Christmas Parade (December).

A unique project in Manteca is Flags Over Manteca, a Chamber-sponsored community initiative that showcases around 2,400 flags throughout town several times each year—Veterans Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, Labor Day, Presidents Day and September 11th—as well as on special occasions. Church members, veterans, service clubs, families, seniors, business people and others all volunteer their time to be a part of this patriotic event. For more information, contact the Chamber.
