Hailing as the retail center of the greater region, Merced boasts a number of sites for shopping, offering virtually everything for every need. Merced’s streets are lined with national retailers and a variety of unique shops selling goods from clothing and jewelry to home supplies and groceries–and everything in between! With such a diverse array of shopping choices, it is no wonder the Merced area has one of the highest per capita in retail sales in the Central Valley region.
Downtown Merced is the site for chic boutiques, antique shops and other unique stores including Helen, Louise & Him and Leighton’s. The downtown center is the site for the 15,000-square-foot Merced Antique Mall as well, which is filled with a significant collection of authentic, one-of-a-kind items ranging from vintage jewelry, furniture and clothing to glass, pottery and art. In addition to the thriving downtown area is McNamara Plaza on 18th and Canal streets, which is comprised of a variety of fashion, jewelry, gift shops and dining establishments. And for those in search of fresh foods, the Downtown Farmer’s Market offers locally-grown goods, along with unique merchandise.
With accessibility from Highway 99, Merced Mall is a shopper’s dream. Anchored by JCPenney, Target and Sears, the mall houses more than 70 stores with Kohl’s to become their latest addition. To the west on Olive Avenue sits Merced Marketplace, a site for several national chains including Pier 1 Imports, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble and Lowe’s. To the east of the mall on Olive Avenue sits College Green Center, equipped with SaveMart Supermarket, Staples, Kevin’s Bikes and others.
Further shopping sites include Raley’s Shopping Center on Yosemite Avenue, Olivewood Center along Olive Avenue and Bear Creek Galleria at G Street and Bear Creek Drive. New sites in Merced include El Portal Plaza, the Promenade in North Merced, and a new shopping center in South Merced.
