Elected Officials

Dennis Cardoza

Dennis Cardoza,
House of Representatives

I am now in my third term in Congress and serve as Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Horticulture and Organic Agriculture. The subcommittee is critical to Central Valley farmers because it has jurisdiction over the crops that constitute the lion’s share of Central Valley agricultural production. In 2007 I also joined the prestigious House Rules Committee, which serves as the gateway for all major legislation considered on the House floor. Having a seat at the table on this powerful committee gives me a strong platform from which to advocate for the interests and values of California’s 18th District on a wide range of important bills. Merced Office (209) 383-4455.

Jeff Denham

Jeff Denham,
State Senator

Welcome to Merced! I am proud to represent Merced County and to reside in this community with my family on our almond ranch in Atwater. Not only am I a staunch supporter of agriculture, I have a passion for education. I’ve proudly worked with the University of California Merced and my colleagues to ensure that this campus flourishes.

If my office can answer any questions on proposed state legislation, or if you need assistance dealing with a state agency, please don’t hesitate to call my Merced District Office at (209) 726-5495. We are here to help!

Cathleen Galgiani

Cathleen Galgiani,
State Assemblywoman,
17th District

I am the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Agriculture, I am a member of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, the Assembly Transportation Committee and the Assembly Government Organization Committee. I have been Chair of the Select Committee on Development of UC Merced, I was elected by my colleagues as Vice-Chair of the Rural Caucus and I am a member of the Central Valley Caucus so that Merced County can benefit from the bi-partisan cooperation on issues important to the whole Central Valley. I have two district offices in addition to the office in Sacramento. Please feel free to contact my Merced District Office, 806 W. 18th St., Merced or at (209) 726-5465/e-mail: assemblymember.galgiani@asm.ca.gov.

Ellie Wooten

Ellie Wooten,
Mayor, City of Merced

Hello, my name is Ellie Wooten! I am the Mayor of the City of Merced. I became Mayor to contribute to a city that has given so much to me. I hit the ground running and have never stopped. This is all a part of my life and I enjoy every day of it. As Mayor, it is my pleasure to welcome you to visit, shop or live in our wonderful city.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “It is one of the greatest compensations in life that no one can help another without helping themselves.” God gave me a pretty good hand. I am grateful.
