The Montclair Hospital Medical Center is a 102-bed acute care hospital that offers a 24-hour Emergency Room, a Family Center of Care Birthing Unit, Orthopedic, General and Outpatient Surgical Services, Laboratory Services, Gastrointestinal Services, Radiology Imaging Services, Community Outreach and Volunteer Services. The hospital recently expanded its ER waiting area and has plans to expand its ICU, Diagnostic, and Outpatient Services in the future.

The Montclair Medical Clinic provides non-emergency treatment and preventative medical care to children and adults three days and three nights a week. The Day Clinic accepts Medi-Cal and Medicare, and clients without healthcare may pay a low cost fee for services. The evening clinic is open for individuals with no healthcare coverage, and fees are on a sliding scale based on income and family size.

Since 1998, Montclair Por La Vida has been helping with residents’ health education needs. PLV’s lay health workers conduct small group education and skill building sessions on parenting issues.

Montclair also boasts several fine nursing homes, extended care facilities, and assisted living facilities.

Also, the City of Montclair organizes many recreational and social activities for seniors, including walking, bingo, cards, oil painting, sewing, trips, and tours. Furthermore, the City offers a senior transportation program, which provides free curb-to-curb service for residents age 60 and over. The service runs throughout Montclair, including medical appointments, to and from the Senior Center, and general errands. Appointments must be made two days in advance.
