Location and Transportation
The Orange County, California area is situated within Central Orange County, just over 30 miles southeast from the bustling city of Los Angeles and 90 miles north of San Diego.
A primarily flat area, the city of Orange and its neighboring communities, including Tustin, are encompassed by hills to the north and east, while the Santa Ana River outlines the community’s western boundary. Additionally, Santiago Creek travels northeast to southwest through Orange.
Transportation is abundant throughout the region, with five major roadways in easy reach – State Highways 22, 55, 57 and 91, as well as Interstate 5. Bus transportation through the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is also a popular option for travel in the area.
Alternative service can be accessed through the Metrolink, a regional rail line accommodating commuters in the southern California area. The service, which has grown to seven lines and 55 stations, operates regional lines in Orange County, including one in Orange and another in Tustin.
Both stations are positioned along the Orange County line, which provides transportation from Los Angeles’ Union Station to Oceanside, with several stops in between. Commuters can also access the Pacific Surfliner Route through the Amtrak service at the Orange Metrolink station.
Air travel in Southern California is ample, several commercial airports situated in proximity to the Orange area: Orange County/John Wayne Airport, located in neighboring Santa Ana; Long Beach Airport; Ontario International Airport; Los Angeles International Airport, or LAX; and San Diego International Airport. Air travelers have access to numerous commercial airlines providing efficient connections to destinations across the U.S. and beyond. Area airports also offer excellent cargo services for business use.
