
Oxnard is served by the St. John’s Regional Medical Center, a 265-bed facility on a 48-acre parcel in northeast Oxnard.

The hospital offers comprehensive medical services including cardiac care, pediatric and maternity services, and a 23-bed acute rehabilitation center along with an oncology care center and an emergency room. St. John’s Regional Medical Center employs more than 1,280 people and has a medical staff of more than 200 physicians representing every medical specialty. The center was established in 1912 in Oxnard and relocated in 1992.
The facility is linked to a 90,000-square-foot office building. The Medical Pavilion at St. John’s houses doctors’ offices, an outpatient surgery center and the St. John’s Cancer Center.

Oxnard is the largest coastal city between Los Angeles and San Jose, with a population of more than 194,000. Oxnard’s crime rate has been decreasing incrementally since 2003.
The crime rate in Oxnard has dropped 2 percent since 2007, with violent crime dropping more than 18 percent. Oxnard’s residential burglary rate has declined by more than 80 percent since the inception of the city’s nationally recognized neighborhood watch programs.
Oxnard’s crime rate is lower than the cities of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Anaheim, Bakersfield and Santa Barbara. The Oxnard Police Department has nearly 400 employees and an annual operating budget of nearly $50 million. The department serves a diverse community of nearly 200,000 people and covers more than 25 square miles.
