Oxnard College

Oxnard Adult School has developed classes to assist those seeking better employment, and for those considering future growth of enterprise. For the past 70 years, Oxnard Adult School has provided residents with lifelong learning opportunities, offered short-term vocational training, and assisted adult students in making an optimum transition to work or further education.

Regional Occupational Program (ROP)

The ROP is a single-purpose school, designed to work in partnership with members of the local business community in order to meet the entry-level employment needs of those businesses. Presently, more than 550 businesses participate with the ROP by serving as curriculum advisors, internship sites or as both. The primary goal is to prepare high school juniors and seniors, plus a limited number of adults from throughout Ventura County, for the transition from school to work.

Colleges & Universities

Oxnard College is a public, comprehensive, two-year community college with more than 7,000 currently enrolled. As part of the Ventura County Community College District, the college offers 30 Associate of Science and 18 Associate of Arts degree programs and continuing education courses.

California State University Channel Islands is the 23rd campus of the California State University system.

The 670-acre campus is located midway between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and is adjacent to Oxnard, near Camarillo. The University's newest architectural centerpiece, the John Spoor Broome Library, was opened in the spring of 2008. Designed by world-famous architectural firm Foster & Partners, under the leadership of Lord Norman Foster, it provides the campus and community with a world-class learning, teaching and meeting facility. The impact of the university has sustained 2,100 jobs in the region and generated nearly $5.4 million per year in tax revenue.

Azusa Pacific University (APU), a private Christian university, has an off-site regional center in Oxnard that is a direct extension of APU’s main campus in Azusa, California. The regional center offers undergraduate degree completion programs as well as a wide variety of master’s degrees and credential programs. All courses are offered in the evening and are taught by both full-time faculty and local adjunct professors.

California Lutheran University was founded in 1959 as Ventura County's first four-year university. Today it offers more than 50 undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs at its Oxnard Graduate Center and its main campus in nearby Thousand Oaks.

Azusa Pacific University

University of La Verne (ULV) offers 88 bachelor’s and master’s degrees, along with four doctorates within four major colleges and one school. ULV has a regional campus in Oxnard as well as additional class sites in Ventura and Camarillo.

The Ventura College of Law campus is located just 10 minutes from Oxnard in Ventura. All instructors are practicing judges or lawyers with at least five years practical experience. The campus is conveniently located approximately one mile from the Ventura County Government Center, where students of the college are eligible to use the resources of the County Law Library.

Many other great public and private universities can be found within a one-hour drive of the City of Oxnard. Undergraduate and graduate programs are offered at the universities of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and Santa Barbara (UCSB), at California State University Northridge (CSUN), at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, and at Pepperdine University in Malibu.
