The Oxnard Chamber of Commerce is committed to promoting the business and economic well-being of a diverse community to benefit enterprises, big and small, through advocacy, services, education, business exposure and promotional opportunities. The Chamber values the quality of life in the Oxnard community and encourages economic vitality.

The Oxnard Chamber is the sole, strong voice of the local business community. However, it is not limited to local issues. The Chamber is a strong advocate for the rights of business, whether issues arise on the local, county, state or federal levels. The Oxnard Chamber is a partner in the Chambers of Commerce Alliance of Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties, which is a coalition of chambers and business organizations formed to address legislative matters affecting the well-being of the regional economy.

The Oxnard Chamber’s Main Objectives are to:

- Encourage a strong local economy
- Promote the community
- Advocate political action
- Provide promotional opportunities and networking

What the Oxnard Chamber does for its members

Representing the interests of business with government through the Chamber’s strong relationships with elected officials at all levels (city, county and state), it advocates for the rights of local businesses and takes positions on proposed ordinances, rulings and legislation.

- Chamber representatives frequent city council meetings and the annual Business Summit in Sacramento
- Oxnard Chamber leadership meets with City officials to address business challenges
- Monitors local, state and federal issues that affect business through the
- Chamber’s Business Advocacy, Land Use and Political Action Committees
- A founding member of the Chambers of Commerce Alliance of Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties
- Through that partnership, the Oxnard Chamber represents nearly 300,000 jobs in the region
- The Chamber carefully reviews and takes official positions on proposals that have an effect on business
- Chamber leaders render public comment or testimony on critical business issues

Encouraging a strong local economy

- The Oxnard Economic Summit includes a publication filled with economic and demographic information on the community
- The Oxnard Chamber works closely with Naval Base Ventura County
- One of its long-standing committees, the Military Affairs Committee, works with local military installations to foster a relationship between the business community and Armed Forces
- The Military Discount and Welcome Home Heroes Programs provide a valuable connection between the military and business communities
- The Chamber maintains an award-winning website that draws visitors from all over the world to do business with its members
- Chamber members can offer coupons, discounts and promotions through www.OxnardChamber.org

Promoting the community

- The Oxnard Chamber provides information to hundreds of inquiries every month regarding tourism, relocation, education, housing and shopping
- From its Information Center located in the Chamber’s office, website and Business and Community Guide, the Chamber is a valuable resource for information about Oxnard and area businesses
- The Oxnard Chamber produces this publication and distributes it free. The eye-catching photography and handy community information make it popular with visitors and residents
- For over 60 years the Chamber has honored outstanding individuals, businesses and organizations with the beloved Community & Business Awards event

Advocating political action

- The Chamber has a very active political action committee, Oxnard Chamber Political Action Committee, to endorse candidates, and/or initiatives and fund campaigns
- Oxnard Chamber holds forums for local and state elections
- During election cycles, forums are presented for many different offices. In 2010, forums were held for the offices of Ventura County Sheriff, State Assembly 25th District, County Treasurer, Mayor and City Council
- The latest advocacy tool used by the Chamber is Vote For Business. VoteOxnard.com makes it quick and simple for businesses to communicate their views on legislative issues. Users can access the site through the Chamber’s website www.OxnardChamber.org

Providing promotional opportunities and networking

- The Chamber holds monthly Good Morning Oxnard Breakfasts that offer an informative program and plenty of networking opportunities
- Committee participation offers another way to connect with potential customers and influential people
- The Chamber provides various marketing and advertising opportunities specific to the membership allowing access to business leaders and decision-makers
