Palmdale provides a broad range of cultural experiences and leisure activities and features an abundance of arts and entertainment for all to enjoy.
The Palmdale Playhouse entertains audiences with live dramas, musicals, radio shows, dance troupes, comedies, choirs, orchestras and live music. The Playhouse also hosts its Performing Arts Program, which gives community members a chance to obtain an enjoyable education in the arts.
DryTown Water Park offers a fun-filled adventure for all ages. Waterslides, a splash pool, a man-made river and a special water play area for those 12 and under provide endless fun. Additionally, the park has an outdoor grill, a store and arcade games.
The Joe Davies Heritage Airpark showcases a collection of aircraft from United States Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale. Current displays include 14 retired military aircraft, a one-eighth-scale model of the B-2 Spirit and an assortment of parts from other aircraft.
The Showdown Rodeo in Palmdale gives visitors the opportunity to see real-life cowboys and cowgirls displaying their abilities. Equestrian parades and rodeos featuring bulls, broncos, bullfighters and barrelmen showcase “the only sport in the world developed from true working skills.”
The City of Palmdale’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a plethora of programs and facilities. Sports, aquatics, visual and performing arts, day camps, field trips and a senior center are only a few of the many activities and services presented. Many parks and recreational centers, each with a diversity of features, are also maintained by the city.
The Palmdale City Library offers patrons numerous activities and programs, including children’s story times, book clubs, a bookmobile, workshops, lectures and online homework tutoring. Cardholders can select from a wide array of books, magazines, music, audio books, videos and DVDs.
