Parks & Recreation

graphicWhile all these aforementioned building projects are in progress, the city is also focusing on major beautification efforts for all seven of the city’s parks that total more that 70 acres of land. There is an Olympic size swimming pool open to the public and numerous well-lit baseball diamonds, football/soccer fields, and outdoor courts for tennis available all over the city. Rio Hondo Park was given a $1 million face lift, new attractions, and new facilities. With larger families in Pico Rivera, safe and fun recreational facilities and parks are vital to any child. New electronic signs, better lighting, safer equipment, and sanitary restrooms have all been a part of this major beautification project. The upgrades on Obregon and Rio Vista Park have been completed, and a master plan for developing Rivera, Smith, Pico, and Streamland Parks has already been approved. Plus, Smith Park already opened an 11,000 square foot skate park for skateboarding. This is the first in the region, and a special youth committee helped create it, so Pico Rivera is certain that it will be enjoyed by many.
