The Pico Rivera Centre for the Arts and Senior Center has become one of the primary locations to experience the citys cultural flavor. The Centres Fine Art programs allow individuals to investigate all aspects of the arts within a nurturing environment that encourages individuals of all ages and skill levels to explore and enhance their creative abilities.
The Centre for the Arts seeks to provide valuable art experiences to the community through a varied program of classes, workshops and gallery exhibits. Special events include the Annual Family Arts Day, Concerts in the Park with free admission to hear the Rio Hondo Symphony, a Summer Dance Recital, ARTventure workshops, exhibit receptions which include five annual exhibitions featuring Southern California artists, and varied classes taught by local artists. Other events include an Annual Family Arts Day, participation in the Los Angeles County Arts Open House, lectures, workshops, film screenings, artist receptions and public programs in association with the Pico Rivera Arts & Culture Committee which presents an annual cultural tradition with participants in a symbolic procession including Mariachi musicians and Aztec dancers.
The Pico Rivera Senior Center maintains and offers a variety of information, social services and recreational activities for persons 50 and older. With the focus on the belief that Active Living is the key to a longer life, some of the regular programs include health screenings, Thursday dances, a monthly Restaurant Club, and a variety of exercise and leisure classes. There are also special events with the entire community in mind including creating a Winter Wonderland, Halloween Spooktacular, an Annual Holiday Boutique and assisting with the One Book, One City Event.
