The Port Hueneme Historical Museum and Chamber of Commerce occupy the historical former Bank of Hueneme building at the corner of Hueneme Road and Market Street.
Incorporation of the Port Hueneme Chamber of Commerce took place in 1940, and its original Board of Directors was the driving force behind the incorporation of the City of Port Hueneme in 1948. The primary goal of the Chamber is to support the business community and to attract others to the "Friendly City by the Sea."
The Port Hueneme Chamber, through its various committees, serves as a public relations representative of business. The Chamber serves as the information center for the area, greets newcomers and answers their questions about shopping, employment, housing, schools, recreation and other community amenities. The Chamber promotes special events, Annual Awards dinner, Police and Firefighters barbecue, grand openings, business mixers and book signings.
The Chamber provides informative speakers at its monthly breakfast meetings. Annual speakers include: Oxnard Harbor District Commissioner, Mayor of Port Hueneme, and Military commanding officers from Naval Base Ventura County.
The Chambers Government Affairs Committee reviews, studies and acts on federal, state and local legislation affecting business. Government representatives, business and community members meet on a regular basis to discuss issues to assist the business community. Small business workshops are provided at the Chamber office and at other locations in Ventura County to assist new and existing businesses to achieve success.
A monthly newsletter is published and distributed to members and available at the Chamber office for visitors and prospective business owners. Members can display brochures and business cards at the Chamber at no cost, and members receive a listing on the Chambers website at www.huenemechamber.com
Relocation packets, demographic information, referral for goods or services, maps, directories, membership applications, historical and tourist information are provided by the Chamber year-round.
Feel free to visit the Port Hueneme Chamber of Commerce, where you will be welcomed by the executive director, Arlene Fraser, and her staff. They will be happy to answer your questions and provide you with a membership application and a map of the area. Individuals and business owners are welcome as members.
