Lunar New Year Parade - Celebrating the New Year in grand style, this annual parade held in conjunction with cities throughout the San Gabriel Valley, travels through San Gabriel into the City of Alhambra via Valley Boulevard. School bands, city officials, floats and more are highlighted.
Easter Egg Hunt & Pancake Breakfast - Sponsored by the San Gabriel Parks and Recreation Department and Kiwanis Club, this annual event held the Saturday before Easter brings together residents of San Gabriel for a day of fun, food and festivities.
Street Festival, Carnival & City Birthday - This 3-day event, held the last weekend in April, in conjunction with San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce and the City of San Gabriel, commemorates the City’s 1913 incorporation. Held in the Historic Mission District, thousands of people gather to partake in carnival rides, arts, craft and food vendors, and entertainment. On Sunday afternoon, the Outstanding Older American Award is presented, and the City’s Birthday Cake is cut and served.
Fire Service Day - Join San Gabriel’s Fire Department as they host this annual event at the South Station. Safety demonstrations, firehouse tours, drawings and local service organizations are featured.
Kid’s Day - First held in 2001 at the President’s request for more family-related events to be held in the state’s cities, this event celebrates the family spirit. It has now become an annual event held on the First Saturday in August.
National Night Out - As part of San Gabriel’s Neighborhood Watch Program, every year the city’s citizens hold block parties as a way of “taking back the night.” San Gabriel’s Police and Fire Departments, along with City and local officials make the rounds to the various block parties during this ever-growing event.
San Gabriel Mission Fiesta - Labor Day weekend finds city residents celebrating the 1771 founding of Mission San Gabriel Archangel. Tours, carnival booths and entertainment are featured.
Los Pabladores Walk - Finishing up the fiesta weekend is the annual walk that follows the footsteps early settlers took from the San Gabriel Mission to Los Angeles.
Golf Tournament - Sponsored by the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce, proceeds form this annual event benefit the Chamber’s Jeanne E. Raya Scholarship Fund. Duffers enjoy a day of golf followed by a delicious evening awards dinner.
Safety Expo - Sponsored by San Gabriel’s Police Department, safety organizations from the San Gabriel Valley gather in the Mission District in order to spread the word about safety.
Turkey Trot - Welcome the holiday by doing a little trottin’. Races include 5/10k, a 1k youth walk and a 5k fun walk. Ribbons, medals, prizes and turkeys are awarded to winners!
Mission District Festival of Lights - Holiday Lights illuminate the Mission District. The Women’s Division of the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City, celebrates the holiday season by lighting the City’s official Christmas tree. This event, held the first Tuesday in December, features bands and choirs from local schools, and ornament making.
