The historic Pasadena Freeway (110) cuts through the northern section of South Pasadena. Our proximity to the Foothill (210), Long Beach (710), San Bernardino (10), and the Ventura (134) Freeways, makes everything in Southern California accessible. What unites can also divide and destroy. For over 30 years the citizens of South Pasadena have fought to stop the extension of the Long Beach Freeway through the "heart" of South Pasadena. In 1989, the City of South Pasadena was named, for an unprecedented five years, as ONE OF THE ELEVEN MOST ENDANGERED HISTORIC PLACES IN THE NATION by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and has since been on the Trusts "Watch List."
South Pasadena is just 15 minutes from Burbank Airport, and less than one hour from both Los Angeles and Ontario airports, providing residents and visitors enormous flexibility in their air travel arrangements. Los Angeles offers international service to worldwide destinations. If cruising is your mode of transportation, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are a short drive away.
