South Pasadena boasts four parks and three playgrounds operated by the Department of Parks and Recreation. The community is fortunate to have a very active AYSO, Little League and YMCA, and is in the process of constructing a skateboard park to serve our youth.
Garfield Park, located next to the downtown core, is the largest of South Pasadenas park facilities. The park has been recently upgraded with new bathroom facilities, playground equipment and a beautiful rose garden.
In tribute to our fallen war heroes, the War Memorial Park on Fair Oaks Avenue, serves not only the northern gateway to the city, but also offers a 2,400-square-ft. public hall that hosts everything from business expos to weddings.
South Pasadenans enjoy The Arroyo Seco, with its golfing, tennis, racquetball, horseback riding and miniature golf facilities. If you are interested in the history of the area, visit the Meridian Iron Works Museum on a Saturday afternoon.
Enjoy a quiet evening at the historic Rialto Movie Theatre, or performing arts at the Fremont Centre Theatre. Concerts In The Park are also very popular during the summer.
South Pasadena celebrates all year long with street festivals, school festivals and its 4th of July parade and fireworks. The 4th of July festivities are a longstanding South Pasadena tradition that recall an earlier era when taking part in the parade was the thing to do.
