Temple City is home to many places of worship reflecting a range of faiths and denominations. Many congregations offer regular services and religious education, as well as providing a variety of programs for the community.
First Lutheran Church, located at 9123 Broadway in Temple City, offers traditional (8:30 a.m.) and contemporary (11:00 a.m.) Sunday worship services. Sunday School classes are held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. for individuals of all ages—preschool through adult. The mission of the Church is to “grow together in Christ through prayer, worship and education and to spread the love of Christ to our community.”

First Lutheran School offers a nurturing Christian education for children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade, recognizing the uniqueness of each child. First Lutheran School provides individualized attention with small class sizes and caring instructors and affords students a strong core academic curriculum that is supplemented by classes in technology, the arts and physical education. First Lutheran School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Before and after school, Cardinal Care, is available from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sonshine House Preschool embraces Christian values, offering opportunities for growth by providing a positive, creative, and stimulating developmentally appropriate academic program and activities for children from two and a half to six years from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

As a vibrant, caring congregation, First Lutheran Church offers Bible study classes, youth programs/events, a Major Leaguers seniors’ club, an active music ministry, a Stephen’s Ministries Christian caring program, youth programs, blood drives, and much more.
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Women’s Ministries Program help the church and community by making homemade items for charity fundraisers, sewing quilts and blankets for the needy, visiting those who are confined to hospitals or their homes, organizing congregational community outreach events, and preparing for church services.

The church has an online community in which members can find church calendar information, sermons, announcements and helpful links. To learn more about the First Lutheran Church and Schools, please visit their website at www.firstlutherantc.org or call 626-287-0968.
