A dedication to lifelong learning is evident in Tulare and Kings counties—a region which offers fine education from preschool through graduate studies.

A number of preschools and early childhood education centers serve busy parents looking to get their child’s education started on the right foot. Kindergarten through 12th grade education is available through numerous private school institutions and several public school districts, including Dinuba Unified School District, Hanford Elementary School District, Porterville Unified School District and Visalia Unified School District. Each district is committed to providing unmatched educational opportunities and preparing students for college and the evolving workforce.

Higher learning is readily available in and around the Tulare and Kings county area. San Joaquin Valley College is a private junior college with eight campuses throughout California. Its Visalia campus provides more than 20 accelerated, career-focused certificate and Associate of Science degree programs in the fields of business, medical and technical studies.The area is served by two additional accredited community colleges. Both College of the Sequoias in Visalia and Porterville College offer comprehensive two-year higher learning opportunities for those pursuing a certificate, Associate degree or transfer degree. Community education and customized workforce development programs for local business and industry are also available.

Brandman University, a fully accredited university that is part of the Chapman University System, operates campuses in Visalia and Hanford, where working adults have access to more than 200 undergraduate, graduate, certificate, credential and professional development programs in several fields. Additional options for higher learning within proximity to Tulare County and Kings County include West Hills Community College Coalinga; Alliant International University, with a campus in Fresno; California State University campuses in Bakersfield and Fresno; Fresno City College; Fresno Pacific University; and Reedley College.
