Senior Living

The pleasant climate in Colorado and the stunning scenery of Douglas County makes Castle Rock a perfect community in which to retire. There are a variety of housing options available for seniors choosing to downsize but who wish to live independently, ranging from affordable seniors-only apartment complexes to patio- and townhomes, to luxurious condominiums. There are also a number of personal and in-home care companies, as well as assisted living and nursing home facilities.

The Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce has recently noticed a need for information on local places specifically geared toward senior living. With this in mind, the Chamber has compiled a list of different types of housing options for seniors that run the gamut of senior citizen needs, from those who are looking for retirement communities to assisted living locations to senior-friendly apartments. While this list is certainly not a comprehensive one, it contains information that may lead seniors to answers for housing questions.

Apartments: This housing option does not allow ownership. While some may allow pets, others do not. Check the Apartments listing in this directory for contact information for each individual complex.

Assisted Living Facilities: For the benefit of those who require help with some daily activities, assisted living centers act as intermediaries between independent living and nursing home care. For additional information on specific locations, please checkthe Assisted Living listing in this directory.

In-Home Care Facilities: Without having to leave home, seniors can receive care from trained and screened professionals who provide companionship, service daily needs, conduct errands, and/or provide local transportation. Check the Senior Citizen Services listing in this membership directory for more details.

Nursing Homes: Providing extended, around-the-clock care for those who need it, nursing homes generally house patients that are unlikely to return to independent living status. For more information, check the Nursing Homes listing in this directory.

Retirement Communities: Offering a wide variety of activities, including recreational, social, educational, cultural, and spiritual activities, retirement communities also provide on-site healthcare should the residents need it. For more details, check the listing for Retirement Communities in this directory.

Single Family Homes: Castle Rock has several housing developments with single-family homes that vary in price range and size. Check directory listings for local real estate offices that specialize in residential real estate for details about specific neighborhoods or price brackets.
