The City of Evans has a stable and highly diversified economy. The area has excellent growth potential with a steady population growth rate: the 2000 census lists 8,320 people in the city, with nearly 60 percent of that population between the ages of 17 and 65.

Evans is located at the intersection of two major routes: U.S. 85 and U.S. 34. Seven large cities are within a 60-mile radius: Greeley, Longmont, Loveland, Ft. Collins, Cheyenne, Boulder, & Denver.

Weld County covers an area of 4,002 square miles in north central Colorado - more space than Rhode Island, Delaware and Washington, D.C. combined. It is bordered on the north by Wyoming and Nebraska, and on the south by the Denver metropolitan area. It is the third largest county in the state.

The basic land surface consists of level terrain to the east with low hills in the west. The City of Evans covers 3.6-square miles, with an elevation at 4651 feet. We are within 25 miles of the Rocky Mountains.

Climate in the Evans area is dry and generally mild, with a 148-day growing season. The winters are mild and summers warm:

• 13-inch annual precipitation

• 29 degrees mean January temperature

• 75 degrees mean July temperature
