Pawnee National Grassland spans 193,000 acres of shortgrass prairie and is home to a variety of wildlife. The Crow Valley Recreation Area near Briggsdale provides camping and picnicking sites. Pawnee Buttes tower more than 300 feet above the surrounding plain and can be reached via a 1.5 mile hike. Closer to home, Evans capitalizes on its hometown atmosphere by sponsoring Evans Days every second Saturday in June. The community event featuring entertainment, parades, pet shows, crafts and a Little Miss Evans Pageant, attracts between 4,000 and 4,500 visitors annually.
