According
to USA Counties information for 1998, 74.9 percent of Weld County
residents age 25 and older have graduated high school. Its just
the beginning of the solid numbers supporting the Greeley/Evans School
District #6 commitment to top educational focus in Evans, Colorado.
Currently,
the district supports 15,355 students in 14 elementary schools, seven
middle schools and five high schools. The district also offers two charter
schools - one at the University of Northern Colorado that spans kindergarten
through 12th grade, and the Union Colony Charter School for grades 8 through
12. Non-public schools, learning centers, night schools, and programs
for specific handicaps make sure no child is left behind.
The diversity mix
in this school district shows 56 percent white, 40 percent Hispanic, with
a representation of African American, Asian and American Indian. There
is a slightly higher enrollment number of males. Drop-out rates represent
a low 4.7 percent.
Student-to-teacher
ratios average 18 to 1, and the district spends $6,392 per student annually,
with more than half of that going directly toward instruction.
