Life-long Learning

Education in the Tri-Lakes area is built on a tradition of excellence. The Tri-Lakes region is served by two excellent school districts; Lewis-Palmer School District 38 and the Academy School District 20. Both schools continuously rank as top performing districts in the state.

For more than 100 years, knowledgeable, caring teachers, active school board members, involved parents and students have worked together to provide a challenging and rewarding academic environment at Lewis-Palmer School District 38 (LPSD).

The Lewis Palmer School District has a long history of achieving excellence. In 2005-2006, LPSD received the John Irwin School of Excellence award for ranking in the top 8% of state schools in overall academic performance based on the 2005 School Accountability Reports.

Approximately 5600 students attend LSPD 38 schools, which cover 131 square miles of Northern El Paso County. The region has five elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school. The Lewis-Palmer School District ensures achievement will reflect in the greatest potential for every student in our pre-K-12 programs.

Monument Academy Charter School, a public school within the Lewis Palmer School District 38, is a challenging, liberal arts, college preparatory K-12th grade school. As a charter school, Monument Academy has its own board of directors. Its goal is to provide an education whereby graduates are well-prepared for successful post-secondary studies.

Academy School District 20 supports more than 20,500 students and offers an International Baccalaureate program at elementary, middle and high school levels. There are also programs for students who need non-traditional educational settings and opportunities for students in a wide variety of co-curricular activities.

Its increasing student population has resulted in expansion with its recently opened a pre- K-12th grade campus in Flying Horse Ranch. The campus, Discovery Canyon Campus, emphasizes math, science, aviation and space exploration. Two new elementary schools are also scheduled to open in the fall of 2007.

Private schools offer Tri-Lakes residents alternative choices for education. St. Peters Catholic School serves students in pre-school through second grade. Hope Montessori/ Andrews Academy offers Montessori based curriculum for grades K-8.

There are also a large number of institutions of higher learning located in and around the Tri-Lakes area, a few of which include: University of Colorado at Colorado Springs; Colorado Technical College; Colorado College; Nazarene Bible College; United States Air Force Academy; Pikes Peak Community College and Regis University.
