The Weld Re-4 Windsor-Severance School District includes the towns of Windsor and Severance. The district encompasses an area 8.5 miles north of Windsor, two miles west, six miles east and six miles south of town, for a total coverage of nearly 100 square miles. Nine facilities comprise the school district, including Tozer Elementary (pre-K–2), Mountain View Elementary (3–5), Skyview Elementary (pre-K–5), Grandview Elementary (pre-K–5), Range View Elementary (pre-K–5), Severance Middle School (6–8), Windsor Middle School (6–8), Windsor High School (9–12) and Windsor Charter Academy (K–8).

The School District Community places a high priority on its school system and has passed elections to fund bond projects for new and improved facilities. The district vision is to provide successful education for life and to develop citizens for the future. Education priorities include 21st century learning skills, 100 percent highly qualified teachers, a low student/teacher ratio, a caring and dedicated staff, a variety of instructional methods, high achievement scores, opportunities for the advanced learner, a variety of extracurricular activities at all levels, a safe and secure learning environment and schools of choice.

Windsor is also proud to have three major universities and two community colleges offering courses within 15 miles. These institutions of higher learning include Colorado State University (Fort Collins)—which has been recognized as one of the top “100 Best Values in Public College” by Kiplinger Personal Finance—the University of Northern Colorado (Greeley), Regis University (Fort Collins), Colorado Christian University (Loveland), Aims Community College (Loveland, Windsor and Greeley) and Front Range Community College (Fort Collins).

One attraction for companies coming to this region is a base of prominent universities and community colleges.
