The Town of Severance
“Where the Geese Fly and the Bulls Cry” reads the sign that leads visitors into the town of Severance, Colorado.
That same motto can also be humorously associated with the most famous of all the establishments in Severance — Bruce’s Bar. With a smile and a chuckle, most locals will tell visitors that they need to experience Bruce Ruth’s famous “Rocky Mountain Oysters” before they can explain what the town slogan really does mean.
Tucked away in northern Weld County, and just far enough east from the hustle and bustle of neighboring Fort Collins, Severance is an idyllic community of 2,500 residents. Its rural-rooted charm makes Severance a prime example of an unspoiled and pristine bedroom town that serves as a gateway to the larger surrounding communities.
The town has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years. In fact, the population of Severance spiked by nearly 30 percent in 2003 and 2004. Such continued population growth ensures optimal businesses and a richer economy for the town’s current and future residents.
