MidState Medical Center is the newest evolution in health care for Meriden. This new state-of-the-art facility opened in September of 1998. The environment looks and feels more like a hotel than a hospital, but the level of technology, skill of the staff, and attention to personal needs quickly assures the patients and their families that they will receive the highest level of care. MidState Medical Center has received much recognition since its opening. Patients consistently rank the medical center in the top 4% of over 650 hospitals that participate in a national patient satisfaction survey tool coordinated by Press, Ganey. MidState also won the prestigious Connecticut Award for Excellence in 2000, which is modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The winner has to meet strict standards of excellence that cross many industries. MidState Medical Center also was named as one of the 100 Top Hospital Intensive Care Units for 2000 in an independent study released by Solucient Leadership Institute. The study showed how deaths could be potentially avoided and money could be saved if all ICUs operated at the same levels as the top performing ICUs named in the study.
