About Our Community
On behalf of the Plainville Chamber of Commerce, we would like to welcome you to our community. Plainville was settled in the mid-1700s and was incorporated in 1869. We hope that you will find this Member Directory useful and informative whether you are a current resident, a new arrival to our community, a visitor or someone thinking about relocating to Plainville.
Plainville is a small town with a population of approximately 16,800 located at the crossroads of central Connecticut with easy access to the main transportation routes in the state. The town is comprised of 9.6 square miles. Most of the community rests on a level, sandy plain with gradually rising clay hills in the west and a steep rock ledge in the east. We are on freight rail lines and are home to Robertson Airport, the first airport in Connecticut, providing private charter air service. We are only 14 miles from Hartford, our state capital, and two hours driving time from New York City or Boston.
We have an excellent school system, a wide range of residential offerings, a strong manufacturing business base and an experienced pool of workers.
Plainville is a special place and we take great pride in it. If you need any assistance or want to learn more about Plainville, please feel free to call at 860-747-6867, email plvchamber@snet.net, visit our website at www.plainvillechamber.com, or stop by the Chamber office.
