Most Fort Myers Beach students attend school in the Lee County School District (LCSD), which contains 81 schools and more than 75,000 students. The 60th largest district in the U.S., LCSD serves PK-12. Additionally, there are many private schools at every level in and around the Fort Myers Beach area.
Students have several higher education options. Edison Community College and Florida Gulf Coast University are both within 10 miles of Fort Myers Beach. Edison Community College has a full-time enrollment of more than 5,000 students at the Lee County 140-acre campus; it has three other locations outside of Lee. Florida Gulf Coast University has a full-time enrollment of 7,200.
