Leesburg’s workforce is stable and well diversified. Lake County’s Technical Center helps prepare students for employment in diverse fields, and provides specialized training geared to expanding and new businesses and industries on short notice. A total of five colleges have classes available nearby. In addition, city staff will coordinate with the local educational institutions to develop effective training programs for businesses that require this service.
The Leesburg area boasts flexible and efficient multi-modal transportation, making it easily accessible by air, sea and land. The designated Golden Seal Leesburg International Airport provides excellent services to business and leisure fliers, and hotels, restaurants and entertainment are conveniently located nearby.
Leesburg is Lake County’s most full-service city, providing staff to work with expanding and new businesses with needed incentives and financing opportunities. Lake County and the City of Leesburg both provide a Job Growth Investment Fund program that awards qualified businesses with financial assistance for each new job that pays above the county’s average annual wage. The city also offers impact fee financing, deferral plan, ad valorem tax abatement and makes additional incentives available to significant projects on a case-by-case basis.
The Office of Economic Development maintains an inventory of commercial and industrial land and existing buildings. The database includes information on zoning, land and building costs, and availability of utilities. The City of Leesburg provides residents and businesses with a one-stop customer service department for all utilities (water, wastewater, gas, electric, solid waste, fiber optics and Internet services).
