Leesburg Florida Celebrates a fabulous Sesquicentennial year!!!

Congratulations Leesburg for 150 years! The Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a part of the celebrations, the growth – and this community. All year we have celebrated Leesburg. We’ve learned about our past—and we’re working on our future. Both are certainly exciting! And, our Chamber is thrilled to be a leader and part of how Leesburg will grow.

We’re in the middle of it all! We are right in the center of the hustle and bustle with Orlando to our south—and the horses and shopping to our north in Ocala—or beaches east and west. Leesburg is where you put your hat at night after you’re out visiting all the sites around us. Leesburg is where you come home to. Sit out by one of our many beautiful lakes and soak in their sheer magnitude, watch the millions of colorful birds (the eagles are spectacular) or walk a trail. In general, just sit back and be glad you’re alive—right here in Leesburg!

Don’t think I’m saying Leesburg is a sleepy-eyed town! It’s anything but! Our restaurants are scrumptious, Leesburg Center for the Arts always has something fun and beautiful going on, and if you don’t visit our incredible new library, you are missing something. It took a whole community to make it happen. That’s why we’re all so proud of our library!

Of course, Leesburg Partnership has outdone itself again this year. A major motorcycle magazine said that the Leesburg BikeFest is one of the Top 5 largest and greatest bike fests in the country!!! Come on down and visit us the last weekend in April. Of course, the Mardi Gras event is too much fun. My favorite thing however, is the Saturday Morning Market. I live for the first weekend in October! The breads and veggies are just great! We have a lot to thank the Leesburg Partnership for.

There was not a month that went by that the Partnership wasn’t involved in some way to help out every one for the Sesquicentennial events:

We’re all looking forward, again, to the raising of the Orange on New Year’s Eve on the Town Square. We have a very exciting airport—it’s now called the Leesburg International Airport. Take a trip out there and check out all the cool companies and planes that are there. And, one of the most exciting things that happened to Leesburg this year is the Florida Collegiate Summer League—Wooden Bat League—and our very own Leesburg Lightning. These college guys go out there and play ball!

Leesburg is growing everywhere. The beautification project on the almost completed U.S. 441 is amazing! It makes such a difference to our city. LakeXpress, the new bus system, is up and running. You can catch a ride to downtown Leesburg, have lunch, do a little shopping, then ride it out to the mall for some more shopping.

The Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is growing and changing right along with our community. Please stop by our newly refurbished offices. Our new Matthews Hannah Board room is available for meetings! Pick up a relocation book, map or many of the other pamphlets and brochures we have so we can tell you all about Leesburg — the place we call home.
