Located at the mouth of the Steinhatchee River, Steinhatchee is one of Taylor County’s unique communities. It is a picturesque fishing village long known for its great river fishing and scalloping. Steinhatchee is also a hunter’s paradise with its abundance of deer, duck, turkey, quail, bear and wild boar.

The community offers visitors services such as marinas, charter and guided fishing trips, motels, condos, vacation house rental and camping areas along the river. A number of commercial seafood outlets provide shrimp, mullet and other Gulf of Mexico delicacies.
