Although Floridas West Coast is nicknamed the Suncoast, it enjoys a mild climate with an average temperature at a comfortable 72 degrees. Due to its close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, the area enjoys an average annual rainfall of 51.5 inches, which results in a refreshing decrease in temperature and lush vegetation. Miles of award-winning beaches, plenty of sun, and a rich plethora of tourist attractions set the stage for an area that has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Nearby St. Petersburg is home to more than 10 million visitors annually, and hosts more than 1,000 events. Renowned as Floridas Sunshine City, St. Petersburg boasts 234 miles of shoreline along Tampa Bay, Boca Ciega Bay, the Gulf of Mexico and intercoastal waterways. It is also home to the largest municipal marina in the southeast, with 610 boat slips. The
following attractions are either in the Pinellas Park and Gateway areas,
just minutes away or, in a few cases, a short drive for families staying
in the area:
Busch Gardens & Adventure Island Tampa
